Soul Woman is a sparkling new compilation that showcases the finest female soul singers of all time.

Running across 4CDs this 80-track compilation highlights the phenomenal contribution female soul artists have made, both creatively and commercially, often outselling their male counterparts.

The set begins with one of the greatest of them all: Aretha Franklin’s ‘Respect’ which, 50 years ago, won Aretha two Grammy Awards. Written and recorded originally by Otis Redding in 1965, Aretha’s 1967 version remains as potent today as it did fifty years ago – perhaps more so in the current climate: if ever there was an anthem for women in 2018, then surely this is it?

The sisterhood vibe continues with Chaka Khan’s 1978 hit ‘I’m Every Woman’, Diana Ross ‘I’m Coming Out’, Sister Sledge ‘Lost in Music’ and Chic’s ‘I Want Your Love’.

In addition to classic soul and disco, there are legendary ladies from the nu-soul era: Mary J Blige’s huge hit ‘No More Drama’, Erykah Badu’s sultry ‘On and On’; alongside Brit stars Mica Paris ‘My One Temptation’, Amy Winehouse ‘Rehab’, Gabrielle ‘Dreams’, Soul II Soul ft. Caron Wheeler ‘Back To Life’ and many more.

Soul Woman is released on 2nd February on UMOD. Order here
